Journal paper 2020, Forcing Pulsations by Means of a Siren for Gas Turbine Applications: all in one figure!

It is always a pleasure when a longtime unseen friendly memory suddenly pops-up

Pacman says hello in cubismus style in the middle of the "Eclipse" routine, a numeric free surface calculator of a nozzle periodically chocked by a cogged wheel, a new feature of CBOne's siren configurator, to fine-tune the pulsation's shape as a function of the client's expectations.

Learning by doing: if the specs of borosilicate glass indicate temperatures of use up to 1500 degrees C, the softening temperature is actually 825 degrees C. This is the beginning of our career as glassblowers apparently :)

ROCKET ONE!

Congratulations to Markus Stuetz who finished the Graz City Run (10,5km) in less than 44 minutes, ranking number 59 out of thousands!

LA FLAMME FATALE

The first idea was to call this flame "Girandole Torsade".

Since we might have some copyright problems with a famous noodle brand, we prefered to call it "Flamme Fatale". Its aesthetics are beautiful - however it is not good for the health. This extremely diffusive propane flame is designed to produce soot in a laboratory. This snapshot was realised in the frame of the latest MethaNull project experiments, about the connection between combustion turbulence control and gaseous emissions, which include small particles.

The Clumsy Octopus

An elder set of LDA data from 2002, reprocessed to extract the dynamics of the streamlines issued from where the fuel is injected in an air-blast atomiser, in presence of a combustion instability. 4 moments are represented, describing what happens periodically every 10ms during the experiment.

Halloween was there!

Frequency signature at 200Hz of a 9-flame burner as seen from the side

Raw result, unmodified. And spooky. Brrrrr.

05.10.2014. What's this?

Oh! SUPER-CANARD IS ON MY SCREEN!!!!

Or how a super-hero was suddenly brought to life while processing some combustion data.

If the next conference article is a disaster, at least we have a passable pitch for a new blockbuster.

After all, why not?

OH MY GOD!

Super-Canard was MASHED by a phase consistency check!!!!

Ouch, if the canardantium beak seems to remain coherent, the rest of the body has been totally komolgoroved!

Hope you recover soon, Super-Canard...

And the next time you pass by, please remember that we do some serious combustion testing here.

And THIS is no joke :)

Kleeblattlauf

The relay race called "Kleeblattlauf" is a nice way to closure the academic year. About 650 teams meet on the sport campus in Graz end of June - and do their best to make the run in less than one hour. We did less than 50 minutes this time. Special thanks to Cornelia Santner and Bugra Akin from TU Graz for running with us.
