Project LIQORNE – a dependable LH2 fuel system
The world moves towards renewable, low emission fuels and this development includes aviation. Hydrogen enables clean, CO2-free combustion, but the stored liquid fuel needs to be cold – very cold. Temperatures lower than -252°C to be exact.

CBOne’s Legacy by 2050, a Vision (ETC15 Conference Talk)
The horizon 2050 will mark the era of a non-fossil fuel economy. The women and men who work at CBOne today will work on this energy transition, and will therefore reach this objective towards the end of their careers. With this long-term vision in mind, here are the concrete actions that CBOne has undertaken so far.
CBOne participates to the 15th European Turbomachinery Conference in Budapest from the 24th to the 28th of April 2023.
We will have two talks:
- Project realHy: Plans for hydrogen experimental facilities for long duration tests at intermediate power. EVI-GTI session. Tuesday 25.4. @ 10h15.
- Project MOeBIUS: Recursive sequential combustion using a discrete sector approach. Thursday 27.04@17:00. Session A-12: ARIAS (Advance Research into Aeromechanical Solutions)

TEAM BRANDNER WINS THE INTERNATIONAL BOLIAY MATHS COMPETITION
Power of Four
CBOne is supporting "Team Brandner", who have been kind enough to wear our colours, and before all who won the final of the Bolyai Mathematics Competition in Budapest on June the 24th! Congratulations!!!
The team, consisting of Viktoria Dietrichsteiner, Milo Giuliani, Alexander Goritschnig and Philipp Kreuzer, comes from the BRG Petersgasse in Graz. The team's achievements include a very good record in the previous editions of the Bolyai. Its individual members have also topped the rankings in the Kanguru competition and the Mathematical Olympiad.

Project crystAIr - towards intelligent combustion
Flame or no flame? That is the question.
This very simple question should quickly find an answer. And an accurate one. Safety, process control, and emissions are at stake.
What was verified within tenths of a second with conventional fuels must be done faster with hydrogen. Besides: hydrogen is a flame that can hardly be seen with the naked eye.
In the framework of the FFG / Take-Off 2021 call, Joanneum Research GmbH has launched a project called crystAIr on the use of artificial intelligence to better monitor a flame. Piezocryst GmbH provides the sensors and Combustion Bay One is in charge of the experiments.
