MOeBIUS.H: the next step in Recursive Sequential Combustion

We proudly present our new project on Recursive Sequential Combustion development: MOeBIUS.H ! This is a joint forces project between Combustion Bay One e.U. and Graz University of Technology / Institute of Turbomachinery and Machine Dynamics.

The major milestones of this 3-years project are:

  • Progress in fuel placement and optimum mixing with fresh air and burnt gases. The study of hydrogen mixedness in this context will be studied in the frame of a PhD thesis
  • Constant section combustor: an ultra compact combustor with a breakthrough architecture will be tested in the frame of this study

The RSC delivers robust lean combustion and is designed for aeroengine and energy applications. It is an exhaust gas circulation concept that takes advantage of the annular shape of the combustor to entertain a perpetual burnt gas interaction with the fresh mix prior to combustion. This proprietary technology of CBOne is protected in about 40 countries including the USA. The two earlier development phases were a plausibility check and early design, then an experimental demonstration. The advantages of the technology (low NOx, low soot, extended safety margin, stable combustion) have been demonstrated in previous works.

MOeBIUS.H is supported financially by BMK and FFG under the project number 913964. We would like to thank all the parties involved and all the people dedicated to this project.
