IRON LIQORNE: about testing a dependable cryogenic fuel system

IRON LIQORNE: C'est parti!

IRON bird for LIQuid hydrogen in airbORNE applications

LIQORNE was a project to develop technologies for advanced thermal management of liquid hydrogen for aviation applications. Following the pilot project's success, CBOne is passing the baton to the FH Joanneum / Aviation team, who will lead this new phase, called IRON LIQORNE, towards creating an iron bird demonstrator.

FH Joanneum / Aviation is responsible for the thermodynamic, fluidic and energy modelling and for hosting the demonstrators operating with model cryogenic fluids.

CBOne is responsible for the gasification and temperature conditioning of the hydrogen just before use and will supervise the measurement techniques of the iron bird.

AIIS is analysing the formation of frost or ice around the various aggregates containing or allowing the flow of liquid hydrogen.

We would like to thank FFG and BMK for their confidence. We look forward to working on this project and keep fingers crossed :)
